Conduct Of The Hon Member For Banff & Buchan;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 1617A1 in 1992-93, proposed by Alex Salmond on 16/03/1993.

leave out from 'expresses' to end and add 'satisfaction that Scottish National Party honourable Members are fully aware that in itself the terms of Labour's amendment 28 to the European Community (Amendment) Bill left the patronage of the Secretary of State totally intact to appoint, if he so wished, a list of Tory councillors as the Scottish representatives on the Committee of the Regions; notes that the SNP honourable Members, in terms of the concession wrung out of the Government, have secured the right of each of the main political parties in Scotland to nominate the people they wish to sit on the Committee of the Regions and not the place-men or women of the Secretary of State; recalls that Amendment 28 of the European Communities (Amendment) Bill failed to specify any number of representatives for Scotland on this potentially important committee or to make any commitment to support balanced political representation; further notes that the honourable Member for Banff and Buchan made no such declaration regarding future votes on the European Communities (Amendment) Bill; and advises Labour honourable Members to guard against being taken in by the nonsense they read in the columns of the Daily Record which is akin to believing their own press statements.'.

This is a ammendment to 1617.
