Animal Welfare During The U.k. Presidency Of The E.c.

That this House welcomes the fact that during the United Kingdom Presidency a number of important EC animal welfare proposals will be brought before the Council of Ministers; and calls upon the Government to take the lead on the following issues, amongst others; the import of wild caught birds into the EC, the use of live animals for the testing of cosmetics, the battery cage for egg laying hens, journey limits for slaughter animals, their welfare at the point of slaughter and the regulation of zoos.
