Chair Of Scottish History
EDM number 578 in 1991-92, proposed by Ray Michie on 29/01/1992.
That this House notes with deep concern the decision by Edinburgh University not to appoint a professor to the Chair of Scottish History for up to two years; deplores the insensitivity of such a move by the capital's leading educational institution; notes the significant contribution the department makes to the teaching and researching of Scottish history and the importance of the subject to Scotland's historical and cultural identity; and calls on the University to reverse this decision immediately.
This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
