KENYA'S RECORD ON HUMAN RIGHTS

That this House notes with dismay the Kenyan Government's repeated attempts to thwart the processes of democracy; condemns the arrest of Gitobu Imanyara, Oginga Odinga, Martin Shikuku, Paul Muite, Dennis Akumu and other supporters of the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy; notes the German government's withdrawal of their Ambassador from Nairobi and the growing anxiety felt in Washington; and urges Her Majesty's Government to make representations at the highest level expressing concern at the gap between President Moi's views declared at the Commonwealth Conference and his government's actions in suppressing open debate.
