Planning Practices In The City Of Liverpool
EDM number 910 in 1990-91, proposed by David Alton on 05/06/1991.
That this House registers its concern and anxiety about planning and land sales policies currently being operated by the Labour Party in Liverpool; in particular, notes the decision of the Property Assets Sub-Committee to sell the site of the Prince Alfred Road/Smithdown Road Bus Depot and Cleansing Depot, Wavertree; notes that the purchasers of the site, Hitbow Ltd., have agreed to pay ú1,250,000 on completion of the sale and a further ú250,000 if they are successful in obtaining planning consent; believes that such inducements amount to bribery and corruption in local government; and calls for an independent planning inspector to automatically consider planning applications where the local authority is also the vendor and therefore has a direct pecuniary interest, and where objections have been received from the local community.
