Fishing Policy

EDM number 904 in 1990-91, proposed by James Wallace on 04/06/1991.

That this House condemns Her Majesty's Government for its continued refusal to introduce a decommissioning scheme; notes that in this respect Her Majesty's Government is alone amongst European Community countries, all of whom have recognised that a well-targeted decommissioning scheme is the only reasonable way to manage a reduction in fleet capacity; calls upon the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to co-ordinate its response with the Scottish Office, as recent statements from St. Andrew's House are creating confusion and uncertainty; and further calls upon the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to state, in the House, Her Majesty's Government's official policy on the future of the fishing industry.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
