Funds For Teaching Welsh To Adults

EDM number 567 in 1990-91, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 06/03/1991.

That this House is gravely concerned at the linguistic effect of population movement during the past five years into Welsh-speaking areas of Wales; notes that, in 1986-87, 78,917 people moved into Wales from other parts of the United Kingdom compared with 45,980 people who were accepted for settlement in Britain; and calls on the Government to increase substantially its allocation of funds for the teaching of Welsh to adults in Wales in line with that which is spent in England and Wales on the teaching of English to non-English-speaking immigrants.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
