Safety On Farms

That this House notes with concern that one out of every three harvesting machines was found to be not properly guarded after inspection by health and safety officers on 270 farms in Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire; endorses the comments of Mr Ken Lee, the area's agricultural inspector, that farmers are putting their own and their employees' lives at risks; and calls upon the National Farmers Union to encourage its members to pay proper regard to all health and safety requirements.
