Nursing Pay

EDM number 123 in 1990-91, proposed by Archy Kirkwood on 27/11/1990.

That this House believes the salaries of nurses and midwives should reflect the value of their contribution to patient care; further believes that the financial rewards of nursing need to be sufficiently attractive to enable the National Health Service to recruit and retain suitable numbers of nursing staff to meet the increased health care demands of the future; and recognises that the Nurses' and Midwives' Pay Review Body has a proven record of recommending fair rates of pay, bringing stability to the National Health Service in the process.
