Tropical Rain Forest Action Plan;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 964A1 in 1989-90, proposed by Jacques Arnold on 10/05/1990.

Leave out from 'House' to end and add 'notes that the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation was quoted in the New Scientist as saying that it is nonsense to say that the Tropical Forestry Action Plan has promoted deforestation, and that conserving forest ecosystems is a principal objective of the plan; welcomes the independent review commissioned by the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation to examine the plan and make recommendations; supports the British Government's objectives of encouraging reforestation and agro-forestry whilst taking account of the knowledge and interests of the peoples of the forests; and welcomes the fact that the Overseas Development Administration is supporting plans in 11 countries, plans to assist a further nine, funds eight forestry related projects and is considering a further 22.'.

This is a ammendment to 964.
