Tropical Rain Forest Action Plan
EDM number 964 in 1989-90, proposed by Dawn Primarolo on 09/05/1990.
That this House is very concerned with the content of the recently published international reports that the United Nations Tropical Forestry Action Plan is seriously flawed and may even hasten the destruction of these globally important resources; notes the Government's support for the Tropical Forestry Action Plan and its promise to make available an additional ú100 million assistance for tropical activities; further notes that the European Community is also considering a major response to tropical deforestation; and therefore calls on the Government to critically consider its support for the Tropical Forestry Action Plan with a view to developing a policy to address the problem of the destruction of tropical rain forests.
