Liberal Democrats, The Sdp And The Poll Tax;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 930A1 in 1989-90, proposed by Matthew Taylor on 10/05/1990.

Leave out from 'House' to end and add 'notes that as the successors to the Liberal-SDP Alliance, the Liberal Democrat local election candidates in the Birmingham, Yardley, constituency gained two seats from the Labour Party, and with 46 per cent. of the votes cast, the Liberal Democrats easily won the Yardley constituency; and is not surprised that the people of Yardley gave a vote of confidence to the Liberal Democrats' local income tax proposals to replace the poll tax, and decisively rejected Labour's latest two-tax roof and income tax proposals for England, and the alternative suggestion of a floor tax put forward by the honourable Member for Birmingham, Perry Barr, in whose constituency the Liberal Democrats gained a seat from the Tories that Labour had expected to win.'.

This is a ammendment to 930.

This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
