Rugby Football And Other Sports Ground Safety And The Budget

That this House, while welcoming the ú100 million promised to the Football Trust for Football League Club ground safety improvements as required by the Taylor Report, and enabled in the recent Budget through relief on football pools taxation, regrets that no such assistance is forthcoming for rugby football and other sports which also have to meet the same ground safety requirements spelt out in Lord Justice Taylor's Report; and therefore calls on the Government to make resources available to ensure that the safety of rugby football and other sports spectators is ensured through financial assistance provided to upgrade grounds appropriately.
