Housing Allowance Payments To Scottish Police Officers

EDM number 601 in 1989-90, proposed by Ray Michie on 22/02/1990.

That this House deplores the decision of the Secretary of State for the Home Department to refuse to implement the award of the Police Arbitration Tribunal about payment of housing allowance to Scottish police officers in police accommodation; notes that the awards of the tribunal are supposed to be binding on both negotiating parties; recognises that Scottish police officers have suffered a considerable reduction in take-home pay from the loss of housing allowance since the introduction of poll tax in Scotland in April 1989; and demands that the Government immediately honour its obligations and repair the obvious damage to morale among the Scottish police force.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
