That this House congratulates the Liberal Democrat Councillors on Basildon District Council for raising the issue of benefits for war widows and war disabled; and notes with regret that neither Labour nor Conservative councillors were prepared to support the move which would have brought the Council into line with other more enlightened local authorities who take the status of war widows and disabled into consideration when calculating housing and poll tax benefit.
