That this House takes note of European Community Document No. 7871/ 89 relating to the protection of animals during transport; and urges Her Majesty's Government to negotiate the adoption of acceptable regulations governing the standards of welfare, inspection, and enforcement by member states after 1992, particularly those which would sustain the current arrangements relating to the export of live equines from the United Kingdom, and to state clearly that Britain will not agree to anything that would encourage a resumption of the export of live equines from the United Kingdom for slaughter.
