Household Refuse Disposal In South Wales;amdt. Line 5:

EDM number 291A2 in 1989-90, proposed by Henry Bellingham on 18/01/1990.

At end add 'and condemns out of hand the opportunistic and cynical attempt to sabotage the Cardiff Bay Barrage Scheme on the most spurious of grounds; and urges the Secretary of State for Wales to look urgently at the possibility of reclaiming this valuable site and recycling the infill in line with projects that have already been proposed to the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation; realises the substantial environmental benefit of removing this hazard and recognises that modern extraction techniques invalidate the fears of nuisance caused by the removal of 'putrescent refuse'; recognises the necessity of restoring the area and its environment to its original state for the enjoyment of the people of Wales; understands that attempts to stop the Cardiff Bay Barrage Scheme will halt the creation of 24,000 to 25,000 jobs over the next 15 years; and believes that any action that prevents this enhancement will betray the interests of the people of Wales.'.

This is a ammendment to 291.
