Ticket Touts At Wimbledon

EDM number 1174 in 1989-90, proposed by Menzies Campbell on 25/06/1990.

That this House notes with concern that Wimbledon fortnight heralds yet another rich picking for the ticket touts; regrets that the touts are pocketing thousands of pounds which should be staying within tennis to help produce British champions; and calls on the Government to support the Licensing of Ticket Sales Bill following its presentation on Tuesday 26th June, thereby ensuring that ticket touts' personal profiteering is curbed through a system of ticket licences designed to keep the monies raised from each sporting event within that sport.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
