Closure Of Caernarfon Cottage Hospital

EDM number 1023 in 1989-90, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 18/05/1990.

That this House notes with dismay the indecent haste with which Gwynedd Health Authority are terminating certain vital services provided by Caernarfon Cottage Hospital; condemns the failure of Gwynedd Health Authority to negotiate adequate arrangements to cover the closure of the casualty unit and to inform the public of such transitional arrangements; deplores the loss of 14 general practitioner beds at a time when the Secretary of State for Health pays lip-service to the importance of such cottage hospital provision; and calls on the health authority and the Welsh Office to bring forward as a matter of urgency a strategic plan for health care services for Caernarfon.

This motion has been ammended, see 1167A1 and 1167A2.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
