That this House welcomes the launch of the Scotland Declaration on Human Rights which took place on 19 February 2018 at Glasgow Women's Library; notes that 2018 marks the 70th anniversary of the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the UN General Assembly in Paris; further notes that the Scotland Declaration calls for law and policy makers to protect the rights of all people, regardless of sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender or belief, especially in the context of the UK leaving the EU; understands that the Declaration calls for Scotland's law and policy makers to help shape and adopt the highest international human rights and equalities standards and that it calls for participation and transparency so that the people of Scotland can understand what their rights are and how these can be protected; recognises the widespread support for this Declaration which has been signed by trade unions, faith groups, national charities and professional bodies; and encourages the public to read and support the Declaration and promote equality and human rights within Scotland.
