That this House congratulates the manufacturer Kays Curling Stones from Mauchline in Ayrshire, Scotland, the official supplier of granite curling stones to the Winter Olympic Games since 1998; recognises that the 2018 PyeongChang XXIII Winter Olympic Games in South Korea will mark 20 years since Kays Curling were established as the sole supplier of Olympic competition curling stones; notes that the Olympic Gold Medal team at Salt Lake City, 2002 skippered by Rhona Howie MBE, who grew up in the village of Dunlop in Kilmarnock and Loudoun Constituency, achieved success using Kays Curling Stones; understands that Kays Curling has the exclusive rights to harvest granite from iconic Ailsa Craig in the Firth of Clyde; further notes that both the qualities that make Ailsa Craig granite unique, and the stringent process the craftsmen have developed over generations, are some of the main reasons why Kays Curling curling stones are the preferred choice around the world for competition standards of the highest level; and wishes Eve Muirhead and her curling team every success in PyeongChang.
