Children's Screen Use

EDM number 874 in 2017-19, proposed by Lisa Cameron on 30/01/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Children and families, Information technology and Internet and cybercrime.

That this House notes the British Psychological Society's published guidance on Children, adolescents and screen use earlier this month; acknowledges much of the evidence for the negative effects of screen use in children and teenagers is not based on robust enough science; further notes the misunderstanding around appropriate screen use for children and young people; and calls on the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to develop an evidence based framework for helping children and families gain the most from the digital world.
