That this House congratulates the South West Writers Group, based in Shortlees, Kilmarnock, on securing a £3,379 grant from the National Lottery via Creative Scotland; welcomes that this funding is being used to allow people of all ages from East Ayrshire to express their writing abilities via projects that incorporate song writing, video creation and storytelling; notes that within the current group there are two contributors with published novels, one musician who has produced three albums and further members with published poems; further notes that the group previously have produced a CD of songs from the south west working with Shortlees Community Association who provided the grant funding; and notes that this work and effort can provide a creative force in the area, and help keep oral songs, spoken word and history alive and wishes the group success in further expansion of participation.
