Fisherman's Bridge Re-Opening

EDM number 749 in 2017-19, proposed by Timothy Farron on 08/01/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Flooding and Roads.

That this House congratulates all those involved in the rebuilding of Fisherman’s Bridge near Sedbergh, following its destruction during Storm Desmond, which will be officially opened this week; thanks those who have donated funds to the project and in particular the local residents and community groups who have raised £12,500 towards the bridge's completion; and urges the Government formally to recognise Cumbria as a special case when it comes to flood relief funding, as existing funding formulas do not allow for money to be fairly allocated in the county because of the unique challenges that come with Cumbria's sparse population and particular geological features.
