RBS Branch Closures In Strathaven And Lesmahagow

EDM number 652 in 2017-19, proposed by Lisa Cameron on 05/12/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Consumers, Financial institutions, Financial services and Small businesses.

That this House is deeply concerned with RBS's plans to close 62 branches in Scotland, including much used branches in Strathaven and Lesmahagow; understands that in many cases these closures will leave towns with no banks; notes that thousands of small businesses still conduct transactions with cash and require accessible locations to banking at the end of the day; further notes that the closure of these branches might require many customers to travel considerable distances to access their nearest branch; regrets that these closures will have the greatest impact on the elderly and the vulnerable, who depend on accessible staff and services in their local RBS branch; and calls on RBS to reconsider these closures.
