PDSA 100th Anniversary
EDM number 586 in 2017-19, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 23/11/2017.
Categorised under the topic of Animal welfare.
That this House recognises the enormous contribution of the People's Dispensary for Sick animals, known as the PDSA, and its founder Maria Dickin C.B.E., to the welfare of animals throughout the UK on its 100th anniversary; recognises that the network of the PDSA's 48 pet hospitals with dedicated staff treats sick and injured pets needing veterinary care, preventing illness, suffering and unnecessary death of pets; further notes that the PDSA educates people about the welfare needs and value of pets within society; and, in the centenary year of the charity, commends the awarding of the 2017 PDSA Dickin Medal, acknowledging exceptional acts of bravery displayed by animals, to military working dog Mali for his outstanding bravery while deployed in Afghanistan 2012, serving in HM Armed Forces.
