Transport For West Midlands Bus Stop Closures

EDM number 501 in 2017-19, proposed by Roger Godsiff on 03/11/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Buses and Equality.

That this House deplores the decision by Transport for West Midlands to remove over 50 bus stops from 1 October 2017, many of which are in Birmingham, Hall Green constituency; notes that Transport for West Midlands' own equality risk assessment identified that the closure of these bus stops would have a negative impact on many vulnerable groups including elderly people, mothers with young children and disabled people; further deplores the fact that Transport for West Midlands ignored this analysis and determined that profit was more important than people's convenience; condemns Transport for West Midlands for notifying councillors in the areas affected only after the removal programme had been implemented; and deplores the fact that Transport for West Midlands has still not responded to a letter written by the hon. Member for Birmingham, Hall Green protesting against these removals.
