Good Money Week

EDM number 373 in 2017-19, proposed by Layla Moran on 11/10/2017.
Categorised under the topic of Financial services.

That this House welcomes Good Money Week 2017, which runs from 8 to 14 October 2017 and aims to raise awareness of sustainable, responsible and ethical finance to help people make good money choices; recognises that the UK sustainable investment market represents around £1.5 trillion of assets under management; notes that research commissioned by the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association for Good Money Week 2017 found that 47 per cent of people want their investments to have a positive environmental or social outcome as well as making a financial return; acknowledges that 57 per cent of people thought fund managers had a responsibility to ensure that companies are managed in a way that is positive for society and the environment; further notes with concern that 30 per cent of the public believe they have no say in how their assets are invested; further recognises that sustainable, ethical and responsible finance allows people to have a positive effect on the environment and society without sacrificing the financial performance of their investments; and welcomes increasing acknowledgement by the Government of the positive effect that responsible and sustainable investment practices can have on the economy, the environment and society as a whole.
