Banner Story Project, Whitburn
EDM number 251 in 2017-19, proposed by Martyn Day on 05/09/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Cultural heritage and Military operations.
That this House praises the work of the Banner Story project in Whitburn; recognises that the project offers an insight into the sacrifice made by so many people during the First World War; further recognises that the banners will be replaced every year to coincide with the period of the Great War; commends the work of Whitburn Academy S4 students Kyle, Daniel and Connor and teacher Victoria for researching, editing and producing the information contained in the banners; notes that this project would not have been possible without the support of Whitburn Community Development Trust-Armistice Day Parade group, Whitburn Community Education Centre management committee, Whitburn Academy, Whitburn Town Centre management group and West Lotion Council; and encourages people to visit the project in order to learn more about the First World War.
