Delphi Diesel Systems In Sudbury

EDM number 170 in 2017-19, proposed by Sandy Martin on 11/07/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Companies, Employment and Industrial relations.

That this House expresses grave concern about the potential closure of Delphi Diesel Systems in Sudbury; urges the company to engage in meaningful consultation with workers at the site; notes that the Sudbury site is the most profitable in the UK, returning profits in the region of £1 million month on month; challenges Delphi Diesel on any business strategy which relies on offshoring as a failure to recruit and retain the levels of skilled workers required; hopes that the rumoured closure of the Sudbury site is not part of a strategy to ultimately pull out of the UK altogether; is therefore worried about the effect that closure will have on the workforce, the local economy and the sustainability on the rest of the UK-based Delphi Diesel operation; and calls on the company to engage in constructive relations with Unite to resolve the dispute.
