Contribution Of Carmarthen To Refugee Day 20 June 2018

That this House recognises 20 June 2018 as World Refugee Day; welcomes all those refugees who have settled in Carmarthen; further recognises the superb work of people of Carmarthen in welcoming refugees to the country; supports the role played by Carmarthen in supporting refugees, through the work of the Syrian Refugee Resettlement Programme; notes the work of the Ethnic Minorities and Youth Support Team Wales in supporting resettled refugees in Carmarthenshire and elsewhere; further notes the success of refugee and resettlement programmes in Wales which as of 2017 had found homes for 722 people; further notes the importance of taking in refugees as part of the UK's role internationally; and calls on the Government to fulfil its international obligations to resettle more refugees in the UK and to provide adequate support for councils and community organisations to support refugees in Wales and throughout the UK.
