Defence Fire And Rescue Project Contract And Mod Contingent Liability

EDM number 1421 in 2017-19, proposed by Gareth Snell on 19/06/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Central government, Companies, Defence equipment and procurement, Emergency services and Fire services.

That this House strongly objects to the awarding of the Defence Fire and Rescue Project contract to Capita Business Services; notes the recent decision of the Government to strip the same company of a £400 million maintenance contract due to significant concerns raised by the National Audit Office; believes that the safety of the armed forces should be at the forefront of every decision made by the Government; recognises the importance of keeping these services in-house; acknowledges the work that Unite the union has done on protecting its members' interests; and calls on the Secretary of State for Defence to reconsider outsourcing the contract, reversing the current decision and setting out the reasons for seeking the liability announced in the Written Statement.
