EDM number 1369 in 2017-19, proposed by Stewart McDonald on 11/06/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Death and Local government.
That this House notes with sadness the passing of Pat Lally, the former Labour leader of Glasgow Council who also served as the city's Lord Provost from 1996 to 1999, at the age of 92; recognises his huge contribution to Glasgow, most notably the Garden Festival, the creation of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, known to many as Lally's Palais and bringing the European City of Culture home to his beloved city; pays tribute to how he transformed Glasgow's image under the cultural banner; further recognises the drive, determination, charisma and fight he had that helped to improve the city of Glasgow and the lives of its citizens, particularly his work to better the lives of older people, represented through his tireless campaigning and work at the Castlemilk Seniors' Centre; and extends sincere sympathy to the family and friends of one of most significant and towering figures in Glasgow's recent history.
