PROCESSIONS And The Contribution Of The Suffragettes
EDM number 1361 in 2017-19, proposed by Joanna Cherry on 07/06/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Arts, Electoral franchise and Equality.
That this House notes that 10 June 2018 will see tens of thousands of women, girls and those who identify as women or non-binary taking part in PROCESSIONS, a mass participation artwork taking place simultaneously in Edinburgh, Cardiff, London and Belfast to mark 100 years of some women getting the vote; recognises that PROCESSIONS is commissioned by 14-18 NOW, the UK's arts programme for the First World War centenary and produced by Artichoke; understands that banner making workshops have been taking place across these islands in preparation for the day; further notes that participants will move through city streets in bands determined by whether they choose a green, white or violet cotton wrap; further understands that the BBC will film live aerial shots of the women forming the suffragette flag in each of the four cities; and wishes the participants and organisers a wonderful, sisterly and successful day.
