Anne Smillie Retirement From Badminton Scotland

That this House extends its best wishes to Badminton Scotland's Chief Executive, Anne Smillie, who has recently announced her retirement; notes that Anne Smillie has served in her current role since 1990 after joining the organisation 10 years previously and is the UK's longest serving sporting CEO; appreciates the work that Anne has done in her 28 years to promote and grow badminton in Scotland; further notes that Anne has achieved a significant amount of success, including bringing nine major international championship events to Scotland, including the 2017 World Championships and helped to produce badminton champions like Kirsty Gilmour; salutes the leadership she provided in establishing Badminton Scotland's home at The Sir Craig Reedie Centre; recognises the comments of Ronnie Conway, Chair of Badminton Scotland, who states that Anne is one of the most influential figures in British sport, praising Anne's intense loyalty and willingness to always stand up for the sport; and thanks Anne Smillie for the work that she has done to grow badminton and wishes her the very best for her retirement.
