4G Coverage In Rural Norfolk

EDM number 1344 in 2017-19, proposed by Norman Lamb on 05/06/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Countryside and Telecommunications.

That this House notes with dismay that three of the 10 worst local authority areas for indoor 4G coverage in England are in Norfolk, according to analysis of Ofcom data conducted by the Country Land and Business Association; acknowledges that the lack of 4G coverage, often coupled with poor broadband speeds, disadvantages rural areas and adversely affects the local economy; recognises that good 4G coverage and superfast broadband is vital to allow businesses to compete effectively and prosper; further recognises the growing risk of a damaging urban-rural divide in terms of connectivity; and calls on the Government to take immediate action to improve 4G coverage in rural areas, whilst at the same time taking more effective steps to improve the coverage of superfast broadband.
