New Hospitals In Harlow - A&E Services 1

EDM number 1224 in 2017-19, proposed by Robert Halfon on 02/05/2018.
Categorised under the topic of Health services.

That this House is aware that Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow has the highest accident and emergency (A&E) department use of any hospital in England; notes that the A&E department sees around 200 to 300 patients per day; further notes that this equates to 10 per cent higher than the national average; is further aware that various recent changes to healthcare services in the surrounding area has created additional pressures for the hospital; notes that the Care Quality Commission has previously reported on the difficulty this creates for patients to be seen in a timely manner; understands that the development of a new, purpose-built health campus could provide the emergency care that is necessary to serve the population of Harlow, the villages and the surrounding areas; and therefore urges the Government to make capital funding available for a new health campus in Harlow.
