That this House acknowledges the outstanding contribution made by Campbeltown Brass which has, for the past 35 years, widened access to the performing arts for young people across South Kintyre, thereby ensuring that talented young musicians are given the opportunity to enjoy making music at the highest level; recognises that over the years, Campbeltown Brass has gained an excellent reputation for nurturing and producing young musicians of outstanding ability; notes that several former members of the band have gone on to pursue successful professional careers as performers, conductors an educators; congratulates everyone involved with Campbeltown Brass on its numerous recent successes, including becoming Second Section, Scottish Champions in March 2018, and thereby qualifying to represent Scotland at the UK finals in Cheltenham later this year; further recognises Campbeltown Brass being named the best in Second Section and overall runner-up at the Fife Brass Band Festival in April 2018, retaining its Scottish Youth Championship title at under-12 and under-14 level in November 2017, and winning the Junior Ensemble category at the Besson Scottish Solo and Ensemble Championships in February 2018; recognises that these successes are all down to the dedication and high standard of tuition the young people receive from the volunteers working with the band; and wishes Campbeltown Brass every success for the future.
