Hospital Car Parking - Nearby Residents

EDM number 1185 in 2017-19, proposed by Robert Halfon on 19/04/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Health services and Roads.

That this House notes the Department of Health and Social Care Guidance, entitled NHS patient visitor and staff car parking principles and the Written Answer of 15 March 2018 to Question 13748 which asked what assessment the Department had made of the effect of NHS hospital car parking charges on people living in residential areas surrounding a hospital; further notes the response that the Department keeps its 2015 guidance regularly under review; regrets to see that, under the guidance, the Department does not take into account local residents; understands that high car parking charges lead to hospital users and staff parking in nearby roads leaving residents with a lack of parking; and urges the Government to consider options to abolish car parking charges at NHS hospitals.
