That this House urges the Royal Bank of Scotland to put an immediate moratorium on its branch closure programme; welcomes the announcement that the bank is halting the planned closure of 10 out of 13 planned branch closures in Scotland; calls on the taxpayer-funded bank to take the same action for impacted branches across England and Wales; condemns any branch closure of the bank as an insult to loyal customers and staff and as an act of desertion of communities; and further calls on the bank to meet with Unite, and any other relevant trades unions, as well as hon. Members, local politicians and other stakeholders.
