Donald Grewar And Motor Neurone Disease

EDM number 1101 in 2017-19, proposed by Stephen Gethins on 21/03/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Charities and Diseases.

That this House recognises the resilience of North East Fife resident Donald Grewar in his battle with motor neurone disease (MND); notes Donald's resilience has inspired many local residents, including former colleagues of Madras College in St Andrews and pupils; commends his former pupil Brynja Duthie who, at just 17 years old, has raised over £40,000 with various events over the last four years to support Donald and his wife Mindy, as well as charities including the Anne Rowling Centre, Edinburgh and MND research by Dr Gareth Myles; and notes that Ms Duthie has raised awareness of MND and engaged other pupils, staff and the University of St Andrews in backing the annual Mr G’s Fun Run, in recognition of Donald's love of running, and in doing so has highlighted the huge level of respect commanded by Donald Grewar as a teacher and friend.
