Back Pay For Sleep-In Residential Workers Crisis
EDM number 1072 in 2017-19, proposed by Ian Mearns on 14/03/2018.
Categorised under the topics of Charities, Community care, Employment and Pay.
That this House notes the back pay crisis facing sleep-in workers in the social care sector has yet to be resolved and mandates immediate attention with many service providers facing a huge liability which could strip them of resources for vital support services offered by charity providers or render them susceptible to closure, through no fault of their own, which would greatly impact vulnerable people who rely on care services; acknowledges that a solution to the problem has yet to be formulated that addresses both the back pay crisis and social care provision moving forward; and urges the Government to take responsibility, and fully fund all sleep-in back pay.
