That this House celebrates the opening of the new Pitlochry Visitor Centre in Perthshire, a purpose-built facility perched on the banks of the River Tummel which houses an exhibition documenting the unique history of hydro electricity and which showcases the social, environmental and engineering impacts of bringing power to the Highlands; welcomes SSE's £4 million investment in the local community to increase awareness of an important aspect of Scotland's heritage; notes that the centre will be a major tourist and economic boost for Pitlochry and the surrounding area, with the centre, hoping to employ up to 17 members of staff during peak season and draw in more than 88,000 visitors each year; further notes that the centre also boasts a multi-purpose room which will be used as an education centre for organised school visits and will host meetings and small conferences for up to 70 delegates; and encourages the public to visit the centre, which is free to enter, and to enjoy the 60-seat café that will serve fresh local produce with stunning views over the dam and the River Tummel.
