Closure Of Clydesdale Bank Branches In Clackmannanshire
EDM number 878 in 2016-17, proposed by Tasmina Sheikh on 24/01/2017.
Categorised under the topic of Financial services.
That this House is concerned at the decision of the Clydesdale Bank to close its two branches in Tillicoultry and Alloa; is further concerned that this will leave customers in Clackmannanshire without access to a local bank branch in their own local authority area; recognises that many customers have limited access to alternatives, such as telephone or online banking facilities; believes that the provision of banking which is accessible to all is an integral part of creating an inclusive community, and that those on low incomes, the elderly population and small businesses in particular will be hardest hit by this decision; and calls on the Government to act to ensure that the banking sector is encouraged to maintain a full network of bank branches across the country.
