That this House commemorates 7 December 1926 as the day on which Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd (ICI) was founded; recognises the significant contribution that ICI made to UK society and recalls a time when ICI was regarded as the UK's industrial crown jewels; further recognises its focus on science and innovation which was the foundation of the growth of the business; notes that the example of ICI and its enduring relevance lay in its contribution to an industrial strategy with science and innovation at its heart; and recognises the important role of the Society of Chemical Industry in organising a major conference on 7 December 2016 on the subject of the role of science and innovation in post-Brexit UK.
