The Peatlands Partnership

That this House recognises the vitally important work of the Peatlands Partnership that strives to enhance, protect and promote the ecology and value of the Flow Country, the large area of peatland in Caithness and Sutherland; notes the Partnership's work on promoting sustainable land management and the encouragement of sustainable community and economic development; further recognises that Caithness and Sutherland are home to the largest area of blanket bog in Europe; recognises the Partnership's Flows of the Future project that is working to restore areas of blanket bog damaged by forestry planting as well as working towards developing and enhancing our knowledge of peats internationally; commends the Partnership in striving towards the incredible achievement of the Flow Country being listed as a World Heritage Site attracting great environmental and economic benefits; and applauds all those involved in the Partnership for their effort and hard work in developing this unique project.
