That this House commends all volunteers in youth organisations who give freely of their time to provide the best start in life for so many young people; records, in particular, its thanks to the many volunteers who have helped sustain the 278 Netherlee Boys' Brigade throughout the 80 years since its foundation in November 1936; and notes with interest the recent study conducted by Edinburgh University, published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, which found that participating in such organisations, long known to have a positive effect on well-being in the short-term, may also be a cost-effective approach to maintaining well-being into adult life.
