That this House congratulates the communities which form the Old Parish of Collessie, Fife, as it existed at the time of both World Wars, specifically Collessie, Giffordtown, Charlottetown, Edentown and Ladybank, for the revival of an Armistice Day Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial, Giffordtown, which, in its observance, having fallen away for a period of around 50 years, is now in its third year and gaining increasing support; pays tribute to the originators and organisers of the revival including Paul Mackenzie Walker, a resident of Collessie, the Giffordtown Community Council, the Giffordtown Village Hall Committee and supporters amongst the local churches, related organisations, and armed service veterans organisations, including the Army Reserve, the 7 SCOTS, the Royal British Legion Scotland and notably the RBLS Riders' Group and SSAFA The Armed Forces Charity; joins in showing our respect to the fallen of the Parish of Collessie, those from the Great War and from the Second World War, and the parishioner who, following an incident at sea on 3 February 1953, in HMS Indomitable, died of his wounds, whose names are all shown on memorials in Collessie Parish Church or at the War Memorial at Giffordtown Village Hall; commends local initiatives of this kind generally; and highlights the funds remaining in, for example, the Heritage Lottery Fund which could upon application be available to support the repair and upkeep of war memorials and facilitate the practice of Remembrance.
