Work Of Charities And Other Organisations On War Commemoration
EDM number 668 in 2016-17, proposed by Martyn Day on 14/11/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Charities, Military operations and Veterans.
That this House commends the work done by organisations and charities, such as the Royal British Legion, the Great War Society, the War Memorials Trust and the Ancre Somme Association, in commemorating the sacrifice made by the armed forces in the First World War and subsequent wars; notes that there are a great many organisations carrying out a breadth of important activities, from historical research and education about the UK's military heritage to the protection and conservation of war memorials; further notes that much of this work would not be possible without voluntary contributions and donations; and calls on the Government to provide financial assistance to support the work of these charities and organisations.
