Arlington Baths Club As A Living Wage Employer
EDM number 627 in 2016-17, proposed by Patrick Grady on 31/10/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Companies, Industrial relations and Pay.
That this House commends the Arlington Baths Club, based in the West End of Glasgow, on its payment of the Scottish Living Wage of at least £8.25 per hour to all employees; welcomes the news that, since its introduction of the scheme in April 2014, the staff-run organisation has found that this has led to increased staff morale and retention; notes that the club was an early pioneer of the Scottish Living Wage scheme, itself introduced in April 2014, and is now joined by over 500 accredited organisations across Scotland; believes that the Arlington Baths Club, as the oldest swimming club in Glasgow, has shown leadership in staffing practices; and encourages other sports and swimming clubs to follow this example and reap the benefits of investing in staff through paying the Scottish Living Wage.
